In celebration of National Arts Month 2026, Mindoro State University – Calapan City Campus officially opened its first-ever DIWA: Damdamin, Ideya, Wika ng Sining Apresasyon exhibit on February 23, held at the University Library (1st Floor). The exhibit runs for two days, concluding today, February 24, giving the campus community a chance to experience art up close.

Anchored on this year’s theme, “Ani ng Sining: Katotohanan at Galing” by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, the exhibit showcases a vibrant harvest of truth and talent, reflecting how art captures both reality and excellence.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by University President Dr. Enya Marie D. Apostol, who reminded attendees that arts and culture must not only be studied but also deeply felt. She emphasized that creativity becomes meaningful when it resonates with lived experiences, community identity, and provincial pride. Through the skills and artistry of MinSU students, this belief came alive throughout the exhibit.

The 1st DIWA exhibit features selected works from students enrolled in Art Appreciation courses across the programs of Bachelor of Secondary Education, Bachelor of Arts in English Language, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Bachelor of Technical Vocation Teacher Education/Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education and College of Computer Studies. Curated and displayed by the dedicated faculty of MinSU Calapan Campus, the collection includes visual art and expressive interpretations that capture a spectrum of emotions, perspectives, and narratives. Each piece reflects how students perceive and interpret art as both personal expression and cultural reflection.

More than an academic showcase, DIWA stands as a testament to the university’s commitment to nurturing cultural awareness and artistic excellence. The library is transformed into a living gallery, where damdamin becomes visible, ideya takes form, and wika speaks beyond words.

As National Arts Month continues, DIWA reminds the community that art is present in truth, alive in talents, and deeply rooted in the identity of Mindoreños. (marm)
